I was in seat 1f of United airlines flight UA 2145 from Chicago to Austin on March 24, 2024. Just before we descended down to prepare for landing, I was looking out the window at the sunset over the clouds. I then noticed a small black object flying in the opposite direction about 120ft away from the plane. Only seeing the object for 3 or so seconds, I didn’t get to my phone in time before it was out of view. The object was all black, shaped like a triangle, no propellers that I could see nor wings. It looked like it were small enough to hold, yet the depth perception up there is a bit ambiguous. Once we landed, I asked the pilots if they saw what I saw, and they said they didn’t (not sure how you miss that). They somewhat brushed it off and said they would look into it. I asked if I should report it to anyone and they said no. So, here I am trying to find someone to share this with. [Audio Transcription]: I was just flying on United Airlines UA2145 from Chicago to Austin, and we were up above the clouds, just about to descend down into Austin. Right before going through the clouds, I was looking out the window at the sunset and saw this black object flying in the opposite direction of the plane, probably 100 120 feet out from us. And I just stared at it for the few seconds I could see it, three, four seconds. And there were no wings, so it was not a bird. And it was too small to be another plane or aircraft of something I'd be familiar of. So small enough that you could hold it. It was all black, no real long wingspan. There were no propellers, and there was no streak coming off behind it either. I I figured it might be just a drone of some sort, but not sure why or how it would be that high up into the sky, especially that close to an airplane. And then we landed and I asked the pilots on my way off if they saw that. What was that? Why are their drones this high in the sky? And they said they didn't see anything. And they would take a look and just roughed me off. And the flight attendants just laughed and thought I was crazy. But asked them, should I report this anywhere? And he said, no, you don't have to report it. We'll take a look. And again, just shoot me off. And I left the flight. So I got home and just started looking online of where to tell my story and found this website.
