Went outside onto [LOCATION] to watch the night sky for satellites. I do this every night. Sometimes I see one, sometimes I see a few, sometimes planes and helicopters since I live close to an airport and a hospital, and sometimes the odd drone. But when I walked outside, I noticed two things: the familiar flashing lights of a plane, travelling east (away from me) and an unfamiliar orange light travelling in the same direction. This light didn’t flash the same way as plane lights do, but instead appeared to twinkle, kind of like a star but more noticeably. It appeared to travel about the same speed as a plane, I didn’t notice any noise I could associate with it, and I didn’t recognize it as anything else I’ve seen in sky. I’m still not sure if this was one light or two. Naturally, friends suggested planes, helicopters, and drones, but none of these matched what I know I’ve seen previously or any descriptions I could find online. Another suggestion was of course the starlink train, but I’d love to see the starlink train and everyone in my life would have known if I had seen it. They also suggested planets. But planets don’t move the way this did. I can’t think of a single time I’ve looked up, seen a planet, and watched it actively traverse the sky before my eyes. One thought I did have was perhaps the ISS, since the tracker said it was over my country when I checked a few hours later when the thought crossed my mind, but from pictures I was able to find, it presents more like Venus or Jupiter and not like a glowing orange light. Military did cross my mind, but I’m not aware of anything active in my area where I would have seen anything behaving in this manner where it would have behaved exactly like a plane.
